Ms. Malik Zahra Khalid, Sr. Assistant Professor

Ms. Malik Zahra Khalid is working as Senior Assistant Professor in the department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Kashmir for more than a decade. Prior to joining the present position, Malik Zahra worked in Srinagar based English daily ‘Mirror of Kashmir’ as a journalist for more than three years. She obtained her M.Phil in Journalism on Mass Communication from Kashmir University for the thesis, Impact of Television on the Youth, a case study of Srinagar Youth. She is at present pursuing her Ph.D in Journalism and Mass Communication from University Of Kashmir for the thesis, “Development Journalism, A case study of four English dailies”.

She did a project with Hoot, a development journalism website on Amarnath Land Row. Besides, she also has guided students at the P.G level in their dissertations and documentary making.


She contributes to the local dailies. She has contributed in various journals at the local and national level.


She attended a workshop organized by the British High Commission on ‘Conflict Reporting’ at Cardiff. She has been trained by the BBC WST in ‘Social Affairs Reporting’ .Besides, she has attended number of seminars and conferences at the national level
